Service Work
- I have formed a strong dedication to community engagement and public scientific education through my academic pursuits and research. By giving public lectures across the United States and Peru, I am able to share my interest in archaeology and biological anthropology with the general public! I strongly believe that they're interested in learning about how our bones and bodies work, and I take advantage of every opportunity to provide formal and informal demonstrations. For instance, I have organized several Louisiana State University (LSU) events for the campus community, such as those through the Latin American Student Organization (LASO), Anthropology Lambda Alpha Society, and Geography and Anthropology society (GAS). These events not only educated about prehistoric cultures in Latin and North America, but also highlighted the significance of preserving cultural heritage in understanding who we are today while dismantling prevalent stereotypes.

- Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, digital outreach has become a very vital and crucial avenue for engaging with students in primary and secondary education. I not only get to create lasting experiences with students in the classroom, but I also get to teach and mentor them about becoming a scientific professional, the world of science, and of course, everything about archaeological research!
- I also serve as an online science mentor for The Social Scientist (Christopher Nicosia | The Social Scientist) to promote underrepresented and marginalized voices in STEM by breaking down barriers to support diversity, equity, and inclusion in scientific domains by supporting mentee career journeys and being open and truthful in sharing my career experiences. If you know any aspiring Archaeology/Anthro nerds, send them my way!
- Lastly, I am a part of the Society of American Archaeology's (SAA - Home (saa.org)) Design Team, where I am assisting efforts to engage with SAA members from all backgrounds in order to examine their needs and aspirations to develop the organization's long-term strategy plan. In addition, I help manage the SAA's Queer Archaeology Interest Group (QAIG) social media presence (www.queerarchaeology.com) where I assist in providing information, resources, and in creating a community for queer archaeologists and archaeological allies!
