About Me
Hello and thank you for visiting my academic page! My name is Christopher Nicosia, and I am a PhD candidate in Anthropology at Louisiana State University (LSU) studying under Dr. David Chicoine. I received my bachelor´s degree in Anthropology with a minor in GIS from SUNY Oneonta and my master's of science degree in Anthropology at Illinois State University (ISU).
My WorkMy research interests explore intersectionalities of disease, age, biological sex, and gender of past peoples in order to shed greater light on communal roles and to piece together more comprehensive pictures of sociocultural landscapes (e.g., social identities, life stages) and the funerary practices of past peoples. Currently, my dissertation focuses on a spatial paleopathological study of nonspecific stress in Ancient North America through time and space. This stems from my studies in bioarchaeology, violence, skeletal biology, paleopathology, and diet.
